The Spartan wrestling team was on the road over the weekend traveling to Vernal for the Tournament of Champions. Teams from Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming competed with the Spartans finishing in 19 place out of 34 teams.

Uintah finished in the top spot followed by Juab in second. Payson, Meeker, and Green River, Wyoming made up the rest of the top five.

Monty Christiansen went a perfect 5-0 in the 113-pound weight class finishing the tournament in first place. Easton Thornley at 285 pounds started great winning his first two matches by pin and making it into the semifinal round, where unfortunately he was injured and forced to forfeit his final matches ending in sixth.

The Lady Spartans were represented as well as Dazi Thatcher at 190 pounds went 1-2 at the tournament.

Next up for the Spartans is the All-Star Duals, a meet that is invitation only.
