
The Emery Lady Spartans have made their way through the new year with more ups than downs putting together a 2-1 record in their last three. On Tuesday night they made the trip to take on the North Sanpete Hawks returning home with a 65-26 victory.
Emery holds a 9-6 overall mark and is 4-3 in region play, they also sit in the No. 8 spot in the RPI with just six games left in the regular season.
Emery put this one away early jumping out to a quick 19-1 lead at the end of the first quarter. In the second, the Lady Spartans slowed things down considerably putting up 14 and allowing 11 for the Hawks, but still maintained a sizeable 33-15 lead at halftime.
In the third, the Lady Spartans went back to work throwing 22 points on the scoreboard, but while the offense was on point the defense was strong as well holding North Sanpete to just seven. Emery pushed their way through the fourth quarter, maintaining the lead and earning the 65-26 win.
Katelyn Nielson posted 16 in the game for the Lady Spartans, Aliya Lester added 14 and Kali Jensen and Saige Curtis each added eight in the Emery win.
On Thursday Emery is back on the road to Nephi to face the Juab Wasps. On Tuesday, Delta comes to the Spartan Center.
