Carbon and Emery wrestling hooked up at the Spartan Center for the one meet-up of the season where just the two teams would go head-to-head with each other. Emery has had their challenges this season in the upper weight classes having to forfeit three matches and Carbon earned the 42-39 win.

Both teams have been pushing their way through the season as they continue the march to divisionals at Emery High School on February 2 & 3.

In the 106 weight class, Carbon’s Ashdyn Densley earned the win for the Dinos and then it was a run of victories for the Spartans. Monty Christiansen was victorious at 113 pounds, Dixon Peacock won by a decision at 120, Ryan Collard at 126, Derrick Birch at 132 and Mason Stewart claimed victory at 138.

Carbon’s Brax Tapia wrestling out of his weight class earned the win by pin over Tayden Allen. Emery’s Damon Farley and Boden Christman both claimed victory in their respective classes.

Carbon’s Jonathan Jewkes at 165 and Gavin Fausett at 175 both won their matches to solidify the Dinos win.

Carbon will head back to the mats on Wednesday the 24 when they will host the Delta Rabbits.

The Spartans will be on the road Tuesday when they travel to Roosevelt to face Union.
