The Carbon swim team traveled to Cedar City to take part in the Region 12 Championships last weekend. With winter sports coming to an end the season-ending tournaments begin. The Lady Dinos claimed another region championship and the boys earned a fourth-place finish.

The State Championships will take place on February 16 & 17 at Brigham Young University.

On the boy’s side of the pool, Canyon View claimed first place, with the Emery Spartans finishing in second. Richfield, Carbon, and Manti made up the remainder of the top five.

In relays, the Dinos earned a third-place finish in the 200 medley, and fourth in both the 200 free and 400 free.

Individually Cameron Jones, Bracken Hansen, and Logan Kranendonk took second, third, and fourth places in the 500 free. Jones went on to earn a third-place finish in the 200 free, Hanson finished sixth, and James Tullis eighth. Kranendonk earned a third-place finish in the 100 fly, and Leland Kespel ended in ninth. Jackson Thayn earned a pair of sixth-place finishes in the 200 medley and the 100 breaststroke. Tullis finished fifth in the 100 backstroke.

The Lady Dinos claimed the Region 12 title by 60 points over the host team Canyon View 494-434. Emery, Richfield, and North Sanpete made up the rest of the top five.

Carbon earned a first-place finish in the 400 relay turning in a time of 4:00.43, they also earned second in the 200 free and third in the 200 medley.

Alyssa Chamberlain led the way in the 50 free taking first with her time of 26.22, Lisa King followed in second with Mia Crompton taking third and Hadley Bower fifth. Chamberlain also finished third in the 100 free followed by Crompton and King. Lily Thayn had a great day in the pool as well finishing second in the 200 medley and the 100 fly, Maya Bower would come in third and Kanyon Christensen finished the fly in fifth.

Evie Halk earned a third-place finish in the 500 free and second in the 200 free. Ellie Hanson finished third and Ada Bradford fourth in the 200 free also, Bradford would finish third in the 100 backstroke. Liley Flores swam to a fifth-place finish, Lillian Seeely seventh, and Andrea Swasey eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke.

All that remains in the season is the State Championships that will take place on February 16 & 17 at Brigham Young University.
