The USU Eastern Theatre Department is excited to present a production of Something Rotten on Feb. 29, then again on Mar. 1 and Mar. 2 and then showings Mar. 5 through Mar. 9. This will take place at the Geary Event Center on the campus of USU Eastern.
“Oh, Something Rotten, what a fun show. I play the character his name is Nick Bottom. So all the characters have names from Shakespeare plays. It’s a little bit of making fun of Shakespearean times and how its just very different from now. So we have a good time goofing off with his shows,” said Student Actor, Grady Noyes. The production is based on the book by Karey Kirkpatrick and John O-Farrell, with music & lyrics by Wayne Kirkpatrick and Karey Kirkpatrick.
This is the last show that Dr. Corey Ewan will be directing as he will be retiring in May of this year. Sophomore Student Actor, Kayla Recla shares her thoughts on working with Dr. Ewan, “He’s been a really good role model to me, I feel like when I first got in to college, I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to do, because I did drill and cheer throughout high school, I wanted to go out of my comfort zone a little bit and he really helped me with that. I took some theatre classes where he was by professor, and he helped me grow as an actor and as a person, and he’s just been really great to work with.”
The production will take place in the Geary Theatre on the campus of USU Eastern. “We have dates from Feb. 29 to Mar. 3, then we pick it back up on Mar. 5 and run it to Mar. 9. They all start at 7:00 pm, that’s when the curtain is. The adult tickets are $16.00, senior tickets are $12.00, faculty/staff/alumni are $8.00, high school students get in for $8.00 as well, and children get in for $7.00 – although it is a PG-13 show, so mind that when you bring your kids,” explained Noyes.
