Lady Dino softball returned to the diamond on Friday at home facing the Hillcrest Huskies.  It was tough sledding at the plate for Carbon, who could not generate any offense, falling to the Huskies 5-0.

Carbon ended last season 18-8 overall with an impressive unbeaten mark in Region 12, which was enough to land them in the No. 4 spot in the final RPI. After wins over American Leadership and Manti the Lady Dinos dropped their first game of the tournament to eventual State Champions Grantsville. The loss put them in the unenviable position of having to win out to get back to the Championship game. A win over Providence Hall got them into another contest against Manti and the Templars ended the Dinos season.

The return to the diamond for the Lady Dinos did not go as planned, as they had a tough time finding offense, even though they collected four hits they couldn’t find a way to cross the plate to record runs.

Hillcrest put a solo run on the board in the first inning and Carbon was able to hold them scoreless for the next three innings but then in the fifth, they were able to rack up another four runs, to solidify the 5-0 win.

Kylan Sorenson had a pair of hits with Adri Abeyta and Samantha Riddle each adding one hit.

On the bump for the Lady Dinos, Sorenson got the start, going 4.1 innings giving up five hits and five runs, two earned, and striking out six. Danica Adams came in to finish out the contest and allowed one hit with a pair of strikeouts.

Carbon heads back to the field on Tuesday when they will go on the road to start the region season against Delta.
