The Lady Dinos got back to work after the season-opening loss to Hillcrest. On Tuesday they traveled to Delta to face the Rabbits. Carbon put up eight runs in the first two innings and used a big fourth to take the win over Delta 18-2 in five innings.

The Lady Dinos started off the season at home against 4A Hillcrest, 5-0. Carbon went on the road for their Region 12 opener at Delta.

Carbon jumped out quickly putting up four runs in each of the first two innings, going into the third inning up 8-2.

The third was a quiet inning for both teams but in the top of the fourth, Carbon got rolling, putting up another eight runs. Brailee Peterson got things rolling by scoring on a wild pitch, and then in the same at-bat, Taylor Secor would ground out to the shortstop which would allow Kylan Sorenson to score. Four batters later an Adri Abeyta single to short drove in Harli Heugly and Aleece Ardohain. With two outs Sorenson would send a line drive to left bringing home Peterson and Abeyta.

The Lady Dinos would add a pair of runs in the fifth and then run Delta three up and three down in the bottom of the inning to claim the 18-2 win.

Junior Danica Adams had a day at the plate collecting four hits, four RBI’s, and scored two runs. Abeyta had three hits, three RBI’s, and scored three runs, and Sorenson had a pair of hits, a pair of RBI’s, and scored three runs in the big win for Carbon.

Sorenson also got the job done getting the start on the mound giving up a pair of runs, one earned, on three hits, and striking out three. Adams closed out the game giving up no hits and no runs and struck out three.

The Lady Dinos will travel to Castle Dale to face the Emery Lady Spartans on Thursday.

Game time is set for 3:30 p.m..
