014-5

The Carbon boy’s volleyball squad was back on the court on Tuesday when they welcomed the Juan Diego Soaring Eagle to Price. This was the Dinos’ third Region 2 contest of the season, and they were able to collect the 3-1 win.

The win moves the Dinos to 3-12 this season and 2-1 in region play, it also gets them to the No. 10 spot in the RPI.

This is the first season for boy’s volleyball at Carbon, where some teams in the region, like North Sanpete, have been playing club ball for a while. Coach Landon Felberg was a guest on KOAL’s Drive Time sports and talked about the team’s resiliency this year, especially in games against teams that have been together for a while playing on club and traveling teams.

“Going into the third set (against North Sanpete) it’s tough when you’ve kind of given what you felt like you were doing good before, and could not necessarily get a serve received that we wanted to, and North Sanpete I’ll give credit to them. they played a game of consistency. And that’s one thing that they have had going into the season is that they have had a club team for quite a few years. ” Felberg added that even though things haven’t gone like they wanted to, this team continues to push forward and keep going.

In the matches with Juan Diego, the Dinos came out and took the first two sets 25-19 and 25-16. The third set was a setback but Carbon still fought hard taking a 25-21 loss. In the fourth and final set, Carbon was looking to close things out as they took the 25-18 win.

The Dinos have tournament play this weekend and then have just three games left before the postseason starts.

Carbon will head to Mount Pleasant on Friday and Saturday this week for the North Sanpete Varsity Invitational.
