
Game 1
USU Eastern baseball welcomed the College of Southern Nevada to Price over the weekend. The Coyotes, who recently entered the top 20 national rankings, opened up the series against the Eagles clinching an 8-4 victory.
Utah State Eastern’s Zak Nelson swung hard, bagging a hit and an RBI, while McGwire Jephson blasted a homer, rallying his team with two RBI’s. But it wasn’t enough to tame Southern Nevada’s offense.
On the mound, Wayland Crane faced some heat, allowing 6 runs during his 4 innings. Konner Candalot took over, but Southern Nevada’s hitters proved relentless, adding 2 more runs.
Game 2
In their second clash, Utah State Eastern flipped the script, grabbing a thrilling 6-5 win against the College of Southern Nevada.
Zak Nelson kept the momentum alive, scoring three times and notching a crucial hit. McGwire Jephson brought the firepower with a homer and four RBI’s, while Sam Beck added one more run to the scoreboard.
On the mound, Landon Salvesen faced a tough battle, giving up 5 runs during his 6 innings. But the team rallied behind him, with Nate Rhineer closing the game strong, holding off Southern Nevada’s offense.
Game 3
The Eagles faced a tough loss in their third game of the series against the Coyotes, with Southern Nevada dominating 11-1.
Southern Nevada’s bats were on fire with a relentless offense, overwhelming Eastern’s pitchers.
The Eagles struggled to find their rhythm at the plate wiht only two runs. Zak Nelson and Sam Beck tried to spark a rally with a hit each, but it wasn’t enough to counter Southern Nevada’s performance.
Kade Hansen pitched for the Eagles just over 3 innings, allowing 7 earned runs on 5 hits and 3 walks, while striking out 2 batters before handing the ball to Tanner Kofoed and Owen Teuscher. Despite their collective efforts, the pitchers faced a challenge in containing the Coyotes.
Game 4
In the final game of the series, CSN again emerged victorious with a score of 15-5.
Sam Beck added three RBI’s to the scoreboard. Jephson continued showcasing his strength with a homer and Mack Bright added an RBI. Despite their efforts, they fell short in the end.
At the mound, Preston Jacobson took the loss after giving up eight runs in just two innings. Jarrett Kenyon and Josh Howell tried to steady the ship but in the end couldn’t contain CSN’s bats.
USU Eastern (24-21, 14-14) will compete in their final regular season series at the College of Southern Idaho (27-22, 10-15). The series is set for Thursday, May 2 at 12:00 p.m. in Twin Falls, Idaho. Fans can watch the games live on the Scenic West Digital Network.
