The time has finally come and it’s time to kick off the Helper Saturday Vibes season this Saturday, May 11 at 5:00 pm on Helper’s Historic Main Street. This community get-together has a slew of activities, food, and music for the entire family to enjoy. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Executive Director, Kimberly Kuehn who talked about how this all began four years ago.
“So we did do a lot of leg work with the city and proposed that we were going to do live music with a bar and create opportunities for non-profits, vendors, artists, musicians, performance artists, and create of community for them on Main Street,” stated Kuehn. The vibes organization also makes it a point to practice recycling efforts during each event and encourages their guests to do the same thing at home.
The evening’s event will be set up inside the Main Street Park where guests can bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on while enjoying the bands. Folks not only can make a night of it but can also enjoy some dinner at one of the many food trucks. “So we’ve got lots of food trucks this year and lots of new food vendors. We have lots of bouncy houses, two or three, every Saturday. Our bands are Variant X and Swagger, and they’re big energy,” said Kuehn. This summer the organization has taken it upon themselves to offer a local band/musician to open the Helper Saturday Vibes events. The first band will take the stage at 5:00 pm and the second band will go on at 8:00 pm.
New this year will be a body ball activity that will be held between bands for guests to enjoy. “So they’re these big human balls, we call them B-Rock Balls because of Balance Rock is a sponsor of them. You get in these balls and we’re going to have some really good competitions, and some loud music, and super fun. We’ll have a big pet parade going on also. Which is meeting at the Bug and Bird during intermission of the bands which is around 6:30 pm – 7:00 pm,” state Kuehn. The parade will make its way down Main Street to the park. Don’t forget there is a kid’s corner filled with activities too.
