The Utah Advanced Materials Manufacturing Institute (UAMMI) announced that they will be merging with 47G, Utah’s Aerospace and Defense Association the board of directors announced on May 13, 2024.
Following the merger, UAMMI will be re-branded as the 47G UAMMI Institute. “By leveraging 47Gs resources, the combined strength of the merged organizations will enhance relationships with national labs, federal organizations, defense research agencies, state legislators and industry associations,” said President Tulinda Larsen in a news release.
Aaron Starks, the president and CEO of 47G was quoted saying,” This collaboration allows us to syndicate resources and bring attention to an industry with a rich and promising future.”
The merger helps highlight the fact that Utah has the potential to offer 40 out of the 50 minerals the U.S. Geological Survey deemed critical to economic health and national security within the United States. These materials are used heavily within the fields of advanced manufacturing and are also used heavily in both aerospace and defense manufacturing.
The merger takes place effective immediately, with all legal entities for the companies remaining the same, so all existing contracts should not be impacted.
