Castle Country Radio had the opportunity to sit down with Emery County Commissioner Jordan Leonard for a talk about what’s coming up in Emery County, as well as spotlighting what happened in the latest county commission meeting and local organizations that have gone above and beyond. Castle Country Radio has the opportunity every other week to speak with the commissioner to keep citizens informed on the latest news and events.
It’s a time of year when local events take center stage, and Commissioner Leonard spotlights a few that are coming up soon,” Castle Dale is holding its June Jamboree and June 7 and 8. And we have Orangeville days June 14 and 15, so a lot of city events popping up for people to keep a lookout for.”
Moving on to organizations within the county that have made a difference, Commissioner Leonard spoke about the Emery County Sheriff’s Office,” They do a really good job in keeping our community safe. We did have an incident last week at the high school during a track meet, and they were right on it. Keeping our public safe, staying community involved and always being available to the community for services.”
Rounding out our conversation, Commissioner Jordan discussed some happenings from the latest County Commission meeting, namely a new bridge program to help those struggling with addiction,” What we’ve decided to do is allocate some funds to have someone here in Emery County so our residents have services like getting them through the situation they’re in and getting them clean again. We’re getting someone here either in the clinic or some other space to help those who have just been released from the hospital and are overcoming addiction … it’s another good resource to help people who are trying to overcome addiction.”
The Emery County Commissioners meet twice a month at 3 p.m. at the Emery County Courthouse at 75 East Main Street in Castle Dale. A schedule of meetings is listed on the Emery County website at http://www.emerycounty.com/
