The Carbon boys finished the meet in 15th.

Carbon coach Jimmy Jewkeas was a guest on KOAL’s Drive Time Sports before the meet and was asked about all the other things that go on this time of year with school coming to a close, how do you keep them focused for state?

“It is really, really hard, depending on where the kids are at. You know seniors, by now let’s be honest, they’re checked out. School is just about over, they’ve got Senior Sluff, and they’re done. The good thing is, is that the kids that we do have that are seniors, like the Sophie Taylors, Jordan Shorts, and the Amiah Timothys, they’re gamers. On the bus ride home from region, those girls were in the back of the bus talking about being ready, and they know, they know that they’ve got to step up their game and they’re gonna come. It’s their last time to run at state, it’s their last time to be on the track and to run with some of these teammates that they’ve been running with for four years, and that means a lot to them, and I think there is not a lot you can do as a coach other than just get out of the way and let them have some of those emotions.”

The Union Cougars earned top honors with 94.00 points, Canyon View finished second with 88.50. Delta (69.00), Emery (67.00), and Morgan (43.00) rounded out the top five.  Carbon scored 30.00 to finish in eighth.
