
Last weekend the Utah High School Rodeo Association held its state finals rodeo, and three Spartans topped their events to earn first place finishes. Dalton Allred, in bull riding, Monty Christiansen in reined cow horse, and Wyatt Fox in rifle shoot. Kamz Rich earned a third-place finish in bull riding.
The high school rodeo season starts in August and with some breaks in between ends in late April. In June they hold their State Finals in Heber City, with the National High School Finals Rodeo taking place in Rock Springs, Wyoming in July.
Dalton Allred is your reigning Utah State Bull Riding Champion scoring 90 points just edging out Wasatch’s Westin Simpson and his 88 points. Kamz Rich finished in third place, with 67.00.
Monty Christiansen is the State Champion in Reined Cow Horse, posting a 97 besting second place Harley Jorgensen of Dixie and his score of 91.50. Christiansen also placed fourth in Saddle Bronc, scoring 74.00.
Wyatt Fox claimed first place in the Rifle Shoot scoring 108.00, ahead of SUC’s Whitley Hatt who scored 95.00.
The National High School Finals Rodeo is scheduled for July 14-20 and will take place in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
