The Carbon Dino baseball squad closed out their season last month, and on Friday, the Deseret News published their annual All-State list. The 3A-All State selections were voted on by the coaches throughout the classification. Three Dinos were singled out for their accomplishments on the diamond.

Senior outfielder and pitcher Maizen Prichard earned first-team honors with a .420 batting average and a .897 earned run average in 39 innings pitched.  Prichard who improved every year on his ERA ended his high school career with an overall 2.53 ERA  pitching 66 innings.

Two Dinos received second-team nods. Senior Jace Barlow who played catcher for Carbon batted .407 with 28 RBI’s and led the team with four home runs, and Rydge Butler, junior second baseman, was a .388 hitter with 26 hits and 13 RBI’s, scoring 16 runs.

The Dinos ended the season 17-9 overall and had a 10-4 record in Region 12 play. They also held the No. 3 spot in the final RPI of the season. Carbon’s came to an end during the play-in round. After defeating North Sanpete in game one, the Hawks came back to take the next two contests in the best-of-three series.

Juab’s Austin Park was named Mr. Baseball, an award that includes all classifications in the state, and Peyton Marx of Union collected both 3A Player of the Year as well as Playoff MVP for 3A.
