During the Price City Council’s regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, June 26, one agenda item stood out, the recognition of firefighter Frank Peczuh who served the city for 40 years, as well as his wife, Brenda.
First, it was Brenda Peczuh receiving recognition from the Council, with Mayor Michealn Kourianos stating,” Behind our first responders and firefighters, there’s someone behind them that is helping them, and that’s important to them and keeping them family together.”
Brenda Peczuh then spoke about her husband, stating,” He was a fireman before we were ever married … People ask “What’s his hobby, what does he do outside his company?” He spends time with his firemen brothers, that’s been his life since I have known him.”
Brenda Peczuh was then presented with flowers and a plaque from the city.
Next, it was Frank Peczuh’s turn in the spotlight. Mayor Kourianos said when honoring retirees, the city likes to ask who their mentor is. In the case of Frank Peczuh, it was Toy Atwood, late firefigher for Price City. Because of this, they had Atwood’s son, Barry Atwood, speak on the character and dedication of Frank Peczuh.
“We were down by Frank’s store on third east with Frank Standing out front, and Dad looked over at me and said,” That is one good guy, one heck of a fireman.”
Next Price City Fire Chief Dave Johnson spoke on Frank Peczuh’s impact on the fire department and community,” He’s been the backbone of our fire department. His dedication to the safety and well-being of the community has been unwavering. Throughout his career here he faced countless challenges and dangers, and yet his dedication has never wavered.”
Frank Peczuh then took the podium to address those in attendance and the Council members, saying,” 40 years ago I started walking into the fire station, and I was awe-struck by the type of people who were serving on the fire department and I thought, “Oh my goodness, what am I doing here?” I’m still inspired by the same type of people, their faces have changed but their spirits have not … I have received far more than I’ve ever given, from my service here, so thank you all very much, I appreciate it.
The Council Chambers erupted into a standing ovation for the Peczuhs following these remarks.
Castle Country Radio would like to thank the Peczuhs for their constant hard work and dedication to the City of Price and would like to wish them good luck in their next endeavors.
