
On Saturday, July 6, at 4:14 p.m., the Price City Fire Department received a call from Castle Heights regarding a structure fire. The incident resulted in one hospitalization and several homes being declared as a complete loss.
The fire, which after investigation by the state Fire Marshall was determined to be caused by an old and broken barbecue that was incapable of holding embers. Following the initial reports of the blaze, Price City Fire Department reported that first responders advised them that the fire had spread to multiple residences.
Multiple other fire services were dispatched to the scene, including the Wellington Fire Department, East Carbon Fire Department and Helper Fire Department to help quell the blaze. Four structures were affected by the fire, leaving three families displaced. At the time of writing the condition of the one hospitalized individual is unknown.
The Price City Police Department shared on Facebook,” We want to give our condolences to those who have lost lifetimes of memories and possessions and we want to thank all the surrounding agencies who have assisted today.”
The Price City Council and Mayor released an official statement on the incident, which read,” Mayor Kourianos, along with the Price City Council, express our heartfelt condolences to the families and others affected by yesterday’s tragic fire. The combined efforts of the Price Fire Department and the fire departments from every city in the county contained what could have been an even greater tragedy.
