
On Wednesday, July 10, at Approximately 5:01 p.m. reports of a fire on Long Street in Green River, Utah were received by the Green River Fire Department (GRFD). A mutual aid call was put out, leading to units being dispatched from the Moab Valley Fire Department (MVFD) to aid against the blaze.
According to reports, one home was listed as a complete loss, with a second house recieving heavy fire damage. But at the time of writing the cause of the fire and information on any injuries that occurred during the fire have not been released.
At 10:29 p.m., the MVFD reported that fire and medical units were clear of the scene and had returned to Moab.
In a statement released regarding the fire released by GRFD on Facebook, the department shared its gratitude for the community assistance that was provided during the fire.“We’d like to thank community members for their outpour of support during yesterday’s structure fire. Whether dropping off bottled water, pulling hoses, or assisting on the end of a house; your help didn’t go unnoticed.”
However, the statement also issued a grim reminder about fire safety,” we’d like to remind community members that no property is worth injury. Remember to be aware of your surroundings and leave all hazardous areas to the firefighters.”
Update 12:53 p.m.
In a statement shared by the Green River Fire Department to Castle Country Radio, the organization stated,”The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Fortunately, all occupants were able to safety exit the residence. The house is considered a total loss and a neighboring home received significant fire damage.” Castle Country Radio will continue to provide updates as they become available
