Get ready for the Castle Country Acting Company’s upcoming performances of “The Dancing Princesses” and “Flappers and Fromage” on July 19, 20, 22 and 23 in the Price Civic Auditorium.

The Castle Country Acting Company is a youth theater group based out of Carbon County that aims to provide theatrical experiences for the youth of Carbon County. Outside of acting, this also allows participants to gain backstage experience such as prop and costume management.

The company is divided into two groups, juniors, which are performers aged seven to 11, and seniors, which are ages 12 to 18. The senior performers work with the junior group to help mentor them and help ease their transition into the theater world.

Castle Country Radio had the chance to sit down with Jocelyn Brinkerhoff, Livia Lang, Mariel Lang, Lily Anderson and Julia Sanders, all actors in the upcoming performances, to talk about the work they’ve put in for the plays.

Starting us off was Brinkerhoff, who plays Princess Aurelia in “The Dancing Princess,” explaining what the play is about. “It’s about these daughters of the king and queen that sneak out at night to dance. And they stay up until dawn because they are trapped in the castle walls during the day.”

Something that each actor shared was what they felt was the hardest part of rehearsing for the plays, with answers ranging from remembering scene changes to memorizing lines and cues.

Livia Laing described the plot of “Flappers and Fromage,” saying,” It’s about these schoolgirls that escape during the night and go to this club, which is a dancing club. But then some of the girls start going missing, and it’s a mystery and they’re trying to find out what’s going on.”

If you want to see the Castle Country Acting Company in action, they perform in the Price Civic Auditorium on Friday, July 19, Monday, July 22 and Tuesday, July 23 starting at 5:30 p.m. with “The Dancing Princesses” and continuing at 7 p.m. with “Flappers and Fromage.” On Saturday, July 20, the fun starts at 3:30 p.m. for “The Dancing Princesses” and 5 p.m. for “Flappers and Fromage.” A suggested gift of five dollars per person or $20 is recommended at the door, with all proceeds going back into the program.
