The midsummer months in the Castle Country Area are a non-stop barrage of celebrations and activities for everyone to enjoy in Price which means the annual International Days celebration, which this year features the second annual Mayor’s Health Walk on Saturday, July 27 starting at 7:30 a.m.

Price City Mayor Micheal Kourianos and City Council Member Terry Willis sat down with Castle Country Radio to talk about the upcoming event for the city.

Kicking things off, Mayor Kourianos spoke on the health walk,” Last year was the first year we did it. We walked our main street because, you know, Price Main Street has been chosen as a pilot project under Main Street USA … And we’re hoping as a council to bring many people forward so that they know the history of Main Street. Or if we don’t know it, they might, and that’s the other part of that, it’s a learning experience for all of us.”

Willis then spoke about the planning process that went into the event,” We’ve met over the last six months, making sure we had all the pieces in place, working with Castle View Hospital to get yoga mats donated so everybody that shows up will get a free yoga mat. And working with different community members to put together a pretty cool swag bag.”

Something that stands out about the Mayor’s Health Walk is that it will be a dog-friendly event,” We want to make sure that as people bring their dogs, they make sure if it’s too hot, maybe leave them at home. But the weather right now looks like it may be very cooperative.” Willis said,” But we do expect dogs to be on leash and under control. But we do want to make this a dog-friendly event because that encourages people to get out and walk a little bit more.”

The Price City Mayor’s Health Walk will take place on Saturday, July 27, starting at 7:30 a.m. at the Bookcliff Mural located at Bookcliff Workwear at 74 South Carbon Ave. in Price. For more information on this and upcoming events, you can visit the city’s website or Facebook page.
