Lady Spartan volleyball got to play in front of the home crowd for the first time this season on Wednesday night when the Duchesne Eagles came to town. It was also the first time they had played at home since winning the State Championship last October. The Eagles put up a fight in the first set but after that, Emery cruised to a 3-1 victory.
After taking the 3-1 loss in Monroe to South Sevier, the Lady Spartans were ready to kick things off in the Spartan Center in front of friends and family, and Emery didn’t disappoint.
The opening set was a battle with both teams going back and forth, but the Eagles came out on top 25-23. Set two was all Emery as they came out swinging taking a 25-8 win. The Eagles tried to come back putting up a fight in the final two sets but the Spartans prevailed 25-20 in the third and 26-24 in the fourth and final set.
Emery will get back on the court when they travel to Nephi for the Juab Tournament on Friday and Saturday. Last season the Lady Spartans went undefeated at this tournament. They will get started with San Juan Friday at 7:00 p.m..
Next week they will jump into their region schedule when they face Richfield at the Spartan Center. Last season the Lady Spartans swept the Wildcats in both region meetings and then once again in a tournament setting.
Game time is set for 6:30 p.m..
