Rydge Butler topped all individual golfers to help propel the Carbon Dinos to a first-place finish Thursday afternoon at the Canyon Hills Golf Course in Nephi.

Carbon ended with a season best score of 295, tipping past second place Richfield’s score of 299. Juab ended in third with a 301, followed by Delta’s 320 and Emery’s 326. Canyon View, Manti and North Sanpete rounded out the field of eight.

Butler was sensational all afternoon as he powered through the competition with a 68. Individually, Juab’s Crue Cowan and Ty Bender finished one stroke back with a 69.

Dayton King provided the Dinos with a solid second score as he shot a 73. Levi King was third on the team with a 75, while Cash Withers registered the fourth score at 79.

Carbon’s team score marks the lowest total of any throughout the four region meets so far this season. The elite performance also snapped a streak of Richfield wins as the team finished alone or tied at the top of the leaderboard after each competition.

The competing teams will now shift focus to next week’s meet as the group heads to the Sunset View Golf Course, homesite of the Delta Rabbits.
