James “Jim” August Sauter, Jr. was born June 9th, 1949 in Providence, Rhode Island. He passed away at his home in Price, Utah on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

He created his own unique path and had his own way of solving problems. James loved going down that country road; whether it was to go hunting, fishing, or just to be in the mountains. Most of all, he loved to feel needed. Being the only son, he was the patriarch of the family at such a young age, and took it upon himself to try and fix the world for those around him and those he loved. He served his country from 1967 to 1971. He was going to take on the world.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James August Sauter, Sr. and Olive Margaret Sauter; and his sister, Olive “Peggy” Magaret Votolato.

He is survived by his wife, Jolene Sauter; children, Karen (Eric) Larsen, Susan (Gary) Shepherd, Jeff Sauter, Becky (Ryan) Wolf, James (Kandi) Sauter, Franky (Emma) Sauter, Jackie Sauter,  Kendra (Matthew) Young, Felicia (McCoy) Brinkerhoff, Katelyn (Tyler) Saddler, Ronald Sauter, Ryan Smith, and Brandon Green; along with fourteen grandkids and three great-grandkids.

Funeral service, Monday, September 16, 2024, 11:00 a.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home in Price (233 East Main St.) where the family will receive friends Monday morning beginning at 10:00 a.m.
