004-12

Tuesday night the Lady Spartan volleyball squad was on the road to take on the Juab Wasps in a region tilt. Emery was able to close out the Wasps in four sets 3-1. Wednesday the Utah High School Activities Association released the initial RPI rankings with the Lady Spartans landing in the No. 4 spot.

Emery sits at 8-3 overall and 3-1 in Region 12 play. The RPI will be adjusted until the final match of the regular season when the Rabnkings will then be used as seeding for the 3A State Championships.

The Lady Spartans came out to take a win in the first set by the score of 25-23. Juab came back in set number two pushing Emery and taking the 25-22 win, but that was all for the Wasps, as the Spartans would take care of them on the next two sets 25-21 and 25-19 to claim the win in four sets 3-1.

Emery gets to stay home for the contest on Thursday as the North Sanpete Hawks (10-3 overall, 3-1 in region play, and No. 2 in the RPI), come to Castle Dale and the Spartan Center.

Last season in both region meetings, Emery walked away with the victory, on September 7 at North Sanpete taking a 3-2 win, and then in Castle Dale on October 4 by the same score.

Game time is set for 6:30 p.m..
