The Carbon High School golf team put together their most dynamic performance of the season as the team shot a 295 last week at Juab's home course. Leading the way for Carbon was Rydge Butler, who topped all golfers individually, with a 68. Carbon coach Robbie Etzel joined the show to talk about his team's outstanding day and what's next as they travel to Delta's home course.
Emery High School girl's soccer coach Erik Nielsen was a guest on KOAL's Drive Time Sports Tuesday afternoon. During his time on the show Coach Nielsen discussed tryouts, the offseason, the new facility at Emery High School and the start of the regular season on Aug. 4.
The Boston Celtics clinched the franchise's league best 18th world championship Monday night, defeating the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. Drive Time Sports NBA analyst and Celtics fan James Holas joined Jordan Buscarini Wednesday afternoon to talk about Boston's performance and what the off-season will bring for the newly crowned champs.
Teams of 13-year-olds from Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah will descend upon Carbon County in late July for the opportunity to represent the Pacific Southwest Region at the World Series held in New York in mid-August. One local team, the Battle 13U squad, will be coached by Darek Martinez, Rob Smith, Justin Powell, and Timmy Urbanik and represent Carbon County.
Ahead of the upcoming tournament, three members of the Battle team joined KOAL's Drive Time Sports. Rigdon Rhoten, Austin Leonard and Jack Madrid all talked about a recent tournament, this year's team and the upcoming Pacific Southwest Regional.
