Jerald William Dent, affectionately known as Jerry, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at the age of 68.
Born on May 29, 1956, in Price, Utah, to Daly William (Bill) and Eva Darlene Dent, Jerry was a graduate of Carbon High School, Class of 1974. He embarked on a long career with Lee Norse, which eventually became Caterpillar, Wheeler, and ICM. Over the past 48 years, Jerry held various roles, including warehouse operations, delivery, and customer service. His work took him across North America—from the Baja Peninsula to Canada—where he formed many lasting friendships.
Jerry was a passionate outdoorsman who treasured his time at Forsyth, Ferron Mountain, and at Electric Lake. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting, always finding peace and joy in nature. As a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he recently served as a youth Sunday School teacher, a role that brought him immense satisfaction as he both taught and learned from his students.
An animal lover through and through, Jerry had a deep compassion for all creatures. He cared for pets, tended to stray animals, and even fed deer.
Jerry is survived by his nieces and nephews: Jim (Geri) Gamber, Rick (Beckie) Gamber, Michelle (Kristopher) Gillespie, Jessica Clouse, and Bill (Chrissy) Dent, as well as his brother-in-law, Mike Gamber and sister-in-law, Melanie Dent.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Stephanie, and his brother, David. Jerry will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carbon County Humane Society, 2984 W. 600 N., Price, Utah 84501.
