
Thursday night the Lady Dinos welcomed in the Lady Spartans from Emery. There is about a month left in the regular season and this was the first time the two teams have hooked up this season. Emery took the first two sets with the Dinos returning and taking set three, however, the Spartans earned a win in the fourth to hand Carbon the 3-1 loss.
Carbon falls to 5-10 overall and 2-5 in region play, they also sit at the No. 15 in the RPI. Emery moved to 9-5 overall and 4-3 in Region 12 and hold the No. 5 spot in the latest RPI rankings.
The Lady Spartans earned a win in the first set 25-14, and then turned around and won a very competitive second set 26-24. Carbon came back to win in the third set by the same score of 26-24.
The fourth set would go to Emery who took the 25-14 win over Carbon, earning the 3-1 match win.
This was the first meeting between the two squads with the second and final coming in the last match of the season on October 22 in Castle Dale.
Up next for Emery is a road trip to Richfield (7-9 overall, 4-3 in region, and No. 8 in the RPI) on Tuesday to face the Wildcats. In August the Wildcats came to Castle Dale and Emery took the 3-2 win.
Carbon will also be on the road Tuesday to take on the north Sanpete Hawks (13-3, 6-1, and No. 2 in the latest RPI). Their first meeting back in Auguat was a 3-1 loss for the Lady Dinos.
