Every week Carbon County Sheriff Jeff Wood comes into the Castle Country Radio Stations to talk about what is going on in the community and always throws in some good safety tips for the public. Carbon County has seen some warm weather over the last week and with that comes melting of the snow, especially now this week with the rain storms it’s important to prepare a head of time for possible flooding.
“Be ever diligent to keep the snow away from the foundation of our homes and things to avoid flooding,” said Wood. “If you scrap it away from your foundation now’s the time to do it. It’s going to be hard, it’s heavy, it’s heavy snow and it’s wet but you don’t have to move it to awfully far, but even a few feet makes a big difference.” Community members in need of sand bags to protect their homes, can pick them up at the County Road Shed located on Airport Road.
There is another scam that is going around with the popularity of solar energy. “Solar is real popular right now and that’s a neat thing to have solar energy but there have been a few scams related to the solar energy field as well. So, if you have somebody come to your house selling you solar and it sounds too good to be true, check it out before you invest,” stated Wood. If you think you may have been victim of a scam, please notify law enforcement immediately they can check to see whether it is or not.
