003-15

Lady Spartan volleyball has just a handful of contests left in the regular season and on Friday they headed to Vernal to face the Uintah Utes (12-8 overall, 1-5 in the region, and No. 9 in 4A), Emery would collect a win in the first set but the Utes took over and won the next three to earn the 3-1 victory.

Emery sits at 11-8 overall with a 6-5 mark in region play, sitting in the No. 10 spot in the RPI.

In the first set, the Lady Spartans came out earning a 25 -21 win, and even though the rest of the sets would be extremely competitive, the Utes took a 25-23 win in set two and followed that up with a 25-21 win in set three.

In set number four, Uintah took the same approach as it had during the previous sets to take a 25-20 set win and won the match 3-1.

Emery will jump back on the road next week starting Tuesday when they travel to Mount Pleasant to face the No.2 team in 3A the North Sanpete (16-4, 9-2). On September 12 at the Spartan Center, Emery battled with the Hawks falling 3-2.

Later in the week, they will be in Richfield for the Sevier Valley Tournament.
