The Emery Lady Spartans tennis squad capped off the tennis season over the weekend at the 3A State Championships held at Brighton High School and Liberty Park. The Spartans took six players, including both doubles teams, to close the season.

Julia Peterson was the Spartans’ first singles representative and faced Marvella Young of Delta, falling in straight sets 6-2 and 6-0. Young fell in the next round to Nataya Day of Juab.

In the third singles, it was Dorian Price for Emery as she was matched up with Leah Ortega from American Heritage, and dropped her match in straight sets 6-0 and 6-0. Ortega fell in the next round to Blythe Huefner of Waterford.

In first doubles, Acelyn Migliori and TaiLynn Minchey earned a 6-4, 6-2 win over Shaylie Blake and Amelia MacFarland of San Juan moving them into the next round to face Sadie Jobs and Alivia Madsen of North Sanpete falling in straight sets 6-0 and 6-2.

In the second doubles match, Izzi Turner and Lily Sorensen beat the duo from Carbon of Gianna Valdez and Kiley Sasser in straight sets 6-4 and 6-3. Turner and Sorensen moved on to face Judge Memorial’s Taylor Dunaway and Grace Willmarth 6-3 and 6-1, who advanced to the semifinals.
