On Wednesday, Oct. 9. The Wellington City Council gathered together for their regularly scheduled Council meeting. Following the retirement of Mayor Brad Timothy on Sept. 25, the Council faced the challenge of appointing a new mayor.
The position was advertised as an open position, with the city receiving only one applicant. With that, it was a clear choice for the Council. During the vote, Council Member Barney Zauss jokingly asked,” Who do we have to choose from again?” All the Council Members voted the same as they appointed Jack Clark to the position. Clark was sworn in as Mayor by City Recorder Rebecca Evans, who delivered the oath of office to Clark.
Clark is a local business owner in the area, operating Clark’s Home Fire Safety. In addition to this, he also serves as an EMT with the county. Clark has lived in the area for over 20 years and served on the City Council since 2022.
Clark will be serving a continuation of former mayor Brad Timothy’s term, which started in 2022. This means that in the 2026 election, Mayor Clark will be up for reelection.
