In September Helper City and Utah State University Eastern announced the baseball and softball programs would be transitioning from their long-time home at Price City’s Carlson-Colosimo Field and the Carbon County Softball Complex to Helper City’s Gardner and Heritage fields beginning in 2025.

On Saturday, Oct. 12, the community will have an opportunity to welcome USU Eastern athletics to the historical Helper fields with a celebration from 12:00-to-2:00 pm. The event will feature hotdogs, snacks, swag giveaways and more.

Sponsored by the Juliano Group and Utah Power Credit Union, the two-hour event will give those in attendance a chance to meet and speak with USU Eastern Athletic Director Jess Brinkerhoff, as well as baseball coach Kirk Haney and softball coach Katelyn Groves. The meet and greet will also serve as an opportunity for community members to get involved in the partnership.

“One of the topics that we are looking at is how to help the community understand that we are reconditioning the fields,” said Pam Juliano on KOAL’s Drive Time Sports. “Jeff Cisneros took great care of this field when it was used for high school and American Legion baseball, so we are focused on bringing it back to that condition. We have local businesses that have made great contributions in that arena. We are also bringing the Heritage Field up to the standards to make collegiate softball what it needs to be.”

Other topics that will be discussed include plans to improve player and spectator experience, purchasing season passes to USU Eastern home games and the upcoming youth baseball and softball skills camps that will be offered free of charge.
