
The Lady Spartan and Lady Dino volleyball teams met on Tuesday night for the final time this regular season. The game also marked Senior Night for the Spartans, as they said goodbye to seven seniors from this year’s squad. It was quite a send-off, as Emery earned a straight-set win to close out the regular season at home.
Jabry Sharp, Kali Jensen, Maddie Cummings, Allison Johnasen, Maleeya Mecham, Kate Nielson, and Demi Pitchforth were all celebrated as the seniors on this year’s squad. Then it was time to get down to business.
The opening set was the most competitive, as the Spartans won 25-20. In set two, Emery started to get into a rhythm, winning 25-18. In what would turn out to be the third and final set, Emery closed the door on The Lady Dinos, taking a 25-17 win and a straight-set match victory.
The Lady Dinos’ regular season comes to a close with an 8-19 overall record and a 3-11 mark in region play. They will head into the postseason most likely opening up the tournament on the road.
The Lady Spartans finished with a 16-11 mark going 8-6 in region play.
On Wednesday, the Utah High School Activities Association will release the final RPI along with the brackets for the 3A State Championships which will begin with the opening round on Saturday at home sites.
The Championship round will take place next weekend, November 1 & 2 at Utah Valley University in Orem.
