On Friday, the Pinnacle Lady Panthers traveled to Richfield and the Sevier Valley Center for the 1A State Volleyball Championships. Pinnacle opened play against the No.1 team in 1A Valley, and after suffering a loss in the match, they would take on No. 9 Tabiona, dropping straight sets, and ending their season.
Pinnacle punched their ticket last Friday with their home win over Dugway. This was the first meeting between Pinnacle and the Valley Buffalos this season.
Valley came out in the first set, getting right at Pinnacle and taking the 25-5 win. The second set was a bit more competitive, but the Buffalos earned their second set win 25-14. In the third and what would be the final set, Valley came out firing and took the 25-10 win to advance and send Pinnacle to the consolation bracket to face the Tabiona Tigers.
Tabiona fell into the consolation round after their loss to Rich in the second round. Tabiona and the Panthers never faced each other this season as well.
In the opening set the Tigers and Panthers seemd evenly matched but that soon changed as Tabiona took charge and earned a 25-14 win over the Lady Panthers. In set number two the Panthers were out gunned by the Tigers as they closed the door on Pinnacle and their 2024 season 25-5 to get the straight set win.
The Lady Panthers finished 5-15 and went 0-8 in Region 19, holding the No. 16 spot in the season ending RPI.
