The Emery Spartans ended a long week of road games on Friday when they traveled to face the American Leadership Academy Eagles in Spanish Fork. The Spartans hung in their in the first half, it wasn't until the second half when American Leadership started to put distance between them and Emery earning a 60-45 victory.
The Spartans started the week in Salt Lake, taking on Enterprise at Vivint Arena. Wednesday, it was back on the road to Blanding to face San Juan.
The game with the Eagles opened with both teams taking their time and maybe seeing what the other was going to do as the first half was played pretty tight, and Emery would go into the locker room at halftime tied 21-21.
The second half is when American Leadership started to pull away, outscoring Emery 17-12 in the third. In the fourth, the Eagles took over outscoring Emery by 10 in the quarter and taking the 60-45 win.
Talon Tuttle and Luke Justice each scored 11 with Tuttle adding four rebounds and Justice collecting five boards and dishing out four assists. Wade Stilson and Justin Curtis had seven with Curtis adding four rebounds, four assists and four steals. Creek Sharp grabbed eight rebounds as well in the loss.
Emery sits at 9-3 overall and holds the No.3 in the 3A RPI, and will begin Region 12 play Wednesday, when they travel to No. 2 Richfield.
