Teams of 13-year-olds from Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah will descend upon Carbon County in late July for the opportunity to represent the Pacific Southwest Region at the World Series held in New York in mid-August. One local team, the Battle 13U squad, will be coached by Darek Martinez, Rob Smith, Justin Powell, and Timmy Urbanik and represent Carbon County.

Ahead of the upcoming tournament, three members of the Battle team joined KOAL's Drive Time Sports. Jaxton Smith, Alex Martinez, and Mason Powell talked about winning the state championship and what's next for the team.

On Wednesday, Jan. 29, Dr. Christy Kane will host a free community event at the Emery High School Auditorium, geared towards Mental Health. All who attend will get a free pass to the Carbon-Emery boy's basketball on Friday, Jan. 31.
