Junior quarterback Wade Stilson dazzled throughout the contest as he completed 22-of-30 passes for 211 yards and three touchdowns, while adding one more score on the ground. The offense was helped greatly by a dominant run game that had Dane Sitterud lead the way with 71 yards on 11 carries.

It took Emery less than two minutes of game time to respond to the only deficit of the game. An efficient drive was capped off by a 21-yard touchdown run by Matt Olsen off a jet sweep. Emery’s second drive also turned into points as Stilson connected with Mason Stilson on a 6-yard pass for a touchdown.

The Spartans created space in the final three minutes of the first half, scoring two touchdowns to head into the break. Wade Stilson capped a drive with a two-yard quarterback keeper for six points. Moments later, following a Judge Memorial turnover, Olsen scored for the second time on a six-yard run, upping the Emery advantage to 27-7.

Emery’s offense continued to roll in the third quarter as Stilson found Creek Sharp for a one-yard touchdown pass on the opening possession. The next offensive drive ended in similar fashion as Stilson found Sharp again, this time on a 31-yard touchdown strike.

Holding a 40-7 fourth quarter lead, the Spartans put the mercy rule into play as Ridic Potter scored on a four-yard run with 5:39 remaining.

Sharp was a problem for the Bulldog’s secondary throughout the game as he gathered nine catches for 74 yards and two touchdowns. Treg Miller finished with four catches and 49 yards.

Defensively Emery forced three interceptions, two from Miller and another from Peyton Alton.

Friday’s win moves Emery to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in region play. The Spartans remain with No. 3 ranked team in the state with the decisive win.
