The Best of Drive Time Sports year in reviews continue Friday as we replay an interview with former Los Angeles Dodgers General Manager Fred Claire.
Claire talked about a variety of topics, including the 1988 World Series Championship, the trade of Mike Piazza and his battle with cancer.
Teams of 13-year-olds from Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah will descend upon Carbon County in late July for the opportunity to represent the Pacific Southwest Region at the World Series held in New York in mid-August. One local team, the Battle 13U squad, will be coached by Darek Martinez, Rob Smith, Justin Powell, and Timmy Urbanik and represent Carbon County.
Ahead of the upcoming tournament, three members of the Battle team joined KOAL's Drive Time Sports. Jace Bosone, Nate Tatton, and Jason Cowley all talked about a recent tournament, this year's team, and the upcoming Pacific Southwest Regional.
Friday's Drive Time Sports featured Carbon High School football coach Phil Howa, who talked about the team's off-season workouts and the upcoming Blue and White scrimmage game on Aug. 7. Also, Tom Perkins of Hoopcitynews.com joins the show to talk about the opening night of the NBA in Orlando as the Jazz top the Pelicans and the Lakers edge the Clippers.
Tuesday's Drive Time Sports featured Carbon High School baseball manager Jeff Cisneros, who talked about his team's performance in the opening rounds of the 3A State Tournament. Plus, the Oakland A's may be on their way out of the Bay Area, Russell Westbrook becomes the triple-double king and the Padres lose Tatis.
