3rd Annual Don Burge Day at Prehistoric Museum

3rd Annual Don Burge Day at Prehistoric Museum
Thursday, June 26 2025
At the Prehistoric Museum at 155 East Main Street in Price

Don Burge was a Geology Professor at the College of Eastern Utah (now USU Eastern) and the museum’s founding Director. Don was at the helm for over 40 years of our 6-decade existence. He was truly a remarkable man with insatiable curiosity and drive.

To celebrate Don, there will be an open folk music jam in the Don L. Burge Room at 3 pm. So bring your banjo (his primary instrument), your voice, or any other acoustic instrument and help us fill the museum with music in his memory.

Come down to the museum to explore some of the museum’s memorabilia collection associated with Don, on display for the first time on the second floor of the Hall of Archaeology. This is also a great opportunity to visit Gastonia burgei, an ankylosaur species named for Don and recently highlighted in the Walking with Dinosaurs episode, Band of Brothers, available for streaming on PBS.

So, please come visit the museum as we honor Don with free admission to the museum and activities that bring together a community he loved so very dearly.
