Many in the community were very concerned and worried when word got out on social media that Carbon Recreation Director, Frank Ori had suffered a massive stroke on Sunday morning. It was no shock that well wishes and prayers began to flood in for him and his family. Several local fundraisers have been orchestrated to show love and support to a man who is a huge staple within our community.

TougHer Gym has made arrangements with Wingers to host the Army/Navy Football game on Saturday, December 9 at 1:00 pm. A portion of the sales during the game will be donated to the family to help with any expenses they are incurring at this time.

TougHer’s owner and operator, Alida Farlaino said, “Frank is a pillar of strength and giving in this community and he has found himself in a time of need.” There is also a silent auction that has been scheduled and organizers are currently gathering items for the event. If any individuals or businesses would like to donation items to the auction may drop them off at the gym located at 77 East Main Street.

The Toy Store and More located in Helper is donating all profits made from plush animal sales to the family too. According to owner and operator, Malarie Matsuda, “Frank is instrumental to our county and has supported all of us at some point over the years.” The store can be found at 208 South Main Street and features a wide array of plush items that can be purchased just in time for Christmas and towards a worthy cause.

Balance Rock Eatery and Pub has made the decision to donate all proceeds from their annual Breakfast with Santa toward the family’s needs. The event will be held on December 22 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the restaurant’s location of 148 South Main Street in Helper.

Frank’s wife, Kristine has not left his side since he was admitted to the hospital up north. She has been overcome with such emotion by the outpouring of love and support shown to Frank by the entire community. The kind words, prayers and visits have been comforting and greatly appreciated by the entire family. She will continue to do her best to keep the community updated on Frank’s status through the Facebook page, “Carbon County Cares for Frank,” that was graciously set up in his honor.

Any community members that are unable to attend any of the fundraising events but would like to help the family may stop by Eastern Utah Community Credit Union located at 675 East 100 North to make a monetary donation to an account that has been set up in the family’s name.

Carbon County is a powerful community, who always without any hesitation comes together when one of our own is in need.
