Emery High School senior Megan Jensen signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Utah Valley University Wednesday night at the Spartan Center in Castle Dale.

“I really feel like I belong at Utah Valley University because the girls have the same values that I have,” said Jensen. “It’s also close to home and my family will be able to help me out like they always have.”

A dominating force throughout the 2017-18 season, Jensen averaged 18 points and eight rebounds per contest. Jensen helped lift Emery past Richfield in the 3A State Championship game as she recorded 25 points and nine rebounds in a 41-36 victory.

Joined by all of her current teammates, Jensen made her choice of college official, ending a process that lasted close to three years.

“I’m way less stressed knowing that its official and now I can enjoy playing my senior year of high school basketball,” Jensen said when asked about the process. “This last year I realized I wanted to stay in state.”

Jensen was named the 3A MVP in 2017-18 and will be one of four returning starters this season for the defending state champion Lady Spartans. Pegged as a front-runner for the 3A crown again in 2019, Emery is looking for their third consecutive trip to the state title game.
