Panthers basketball goes 1-1 on southern road trip

The Pinnacle Panther basketball squad took a southern road trip this week playing Diamond Ranch Academy and Water Canyon on Tuesday and Wednesday.

After falling against Diamond Academy on Tuesday they would come back and defeat Water Academy in a nail bitter on Wednesday night.

Pinnacle is currently sitting at 7-9 and owns the #13 spot in the RPI rankings from the Utah High School Activities Association.

Below is a recap of both games:

January 7: Diamond Ranch Academy- 53-41 Loss

The Pinnacle Panthers would come out in the game against Diamond Ranch flat in the first quarter scoring just six point and being outscored in the first half 29-20.

Diamond Ranch is now 2-10 and ranked #18 in the RPI.

January 8: Water Canyon- 83-81 Win

The Panthers were looking to avenge their loss on Tuesday headed into the game with Water Canyon on Wednesday night. They came out in the first quarter keeping it close and going in at the half down by just five points. In the third quarter Pinnacle was outscored by six points but they dug deep and went on a 25-12  run in the fourth to take the two point win.

Pinnacle will take to the court next on January 14 when they will welcome Green River to Price in the region opener.

Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
