The 2016 2A golf season will come to a close as this Wednesday and Thursday as qualifying teams travel to Midway to compete in the state championship at the Soldier Hollow Golf Course.
The Emery Spartans punched their ticket to the season finale with a second place finish in Region 15, falling behind only Grand. The Spartans will begin play Wednesday at 9:30 AM.
Logan Healy will be the first Spartan to tee-off, beginning on tee No. 1 at 9:30 AM. Deryk Fuller, Shaydon Killpack, Race Nielson, McKoy Holt and Oakley Toomer will follow, each ten minutes apart.
Emery has been paired with South Sevier, Rowland Hall and Providence Hall for the first day of two at the state tournament. Those teams and individuals who make the cut will advance to the second and final day of the season.
After rebounding from a slow start in the region season, the Spartans rallied to pass Manti for second place in the final standings. Individually Toomer placed eighth in the highly talented region. Holt finished ninth and Nielson ended 10th.
