The polls where busy on Tuesday, November 7 with the Carbon County Municipal General Elections. Many voters began visiting their appointed polling locations at 7:00 am, with polls closing at 8:00 pm. The Carbon County Clerk’s office has release the unofficial election results thus far with votes still coming in.

The Republican primary race for Utah’s 3rd Congressional District shows Republican John Curtis with 47.50 percent, Democrat Kathie Allen shows 37.37 percent, along with Jim Bennett with 8.55 percent, Sean Whalen with 3.19 percent, Joe Buchman with 1.78 percent, followed by Jason Christensen with 1.41 percent and the write-in votes brought in .20 percent.

The Price City Mayor seat featured two new comers, Michael Kourianos taking the top  spot with 62.52 percent of the votes, followed by Rick Adams with 37.48 percent.

Price City Council results show current City Council member, Terry Willis with 28.35 percent, followed by Amy Knott-Jespersen with 27.08 percent, close behind shows Joe Christman with 27.04 percent and Jesse Sloan with 17.53 percent of the votes.

Voters in Helper will have a new mayor, Lenise Peterman brought in over half of the votes with 67.46 percent, followed by current Mayor Edward Chavez with 32.54 percent.

Helper’s City Council candidates show Malarie Matusda with 33.05 percent, Donna Archuleta brought in 25.81 percent, Gary Warwood is not far behind with 21.41 percent and Tim Riley had 19.73 percent.

Wellington City mayoral race shows Joan Powell returning to lead the city and write-in votes show 44.75 percent. There was only one candidate running for city council, Kirt Tatton with 100 percent of the votes.

The East Carbon Mayor seat will bring in new blood, Harry Goslin Jr brought in a significant amount of votes with 68.46 percent and current Mayor Doug Parson falling short with 31.54 percent.

Results for East Carbon City Council shows Larry Wood with 30.13 percent, followed by Donald McCarthy with 27.62 percent, close behind is Karla Young with 24.13 percent and Phillip Holt brought in 18.13 percent of the votes.

Scofield mayoral race shows Mike Erkkila with 78.57 percent and Ron Richmond with 21.43 percent. The city council race shows a tie between Scott H Deem and Barbara E Leek both with 33.96 percent, Scott Holman follows at 18.87 percent and Paul Helsten with 13.21%.

The Carbon County Clerk’s office must have the official count of votes completed by November 21.
