Despite holding an early first half lead, the Carbon Lady Dinos fell to Wasatch Academy 57-53 in the season opener Thursday evening at the Shanon Johnson Tournament in Uintah.

The Lady Dinos used a hot start offensively to capture a 19-12 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Adjustments defensively helped Wasatch Academy stifle the potent Carbon offense the next three quarters, allowing them to methodically take control.

Sophomore Jordan Bianco posted a team best 20 points, 18 of which came from the three-point line. Abbie Saccomanno also reached double-figures with 13, while Jodi Noyes finished with nine.

With the season now underway the Lady Dinos will continue a blistering schedule throughout the weekend in Uintah. Friday the team will square off with South Summit, before returning to the court on Saturday for a double-header against Mountain Crest and Uintah.

Following this weekend’s four game set, Carbon will travel on the road for another pre-season tournament, this time in Fruita, Colo. The first home game of the season is scheduled for Dec. 19 against Delta.
