The Emery Lady Spartans overcame a slow start to stomp past the Millard Eagles 77-48, improving to 3-0 in the process Thursday evening on the road.
Trailing 13-11 at the end of the first quarter, the Emery defense kicked into high gear and produced opportunities on offense. Emery turned the two-point deficit into a 16-point advantage by the end of the first half, and never looked back.
Kacelynn Toomer produced a game-high 20-point performance to go along with five rebounds, five steals and two assists. Kinlee Toomer recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 assists, while Megan Jensen continued to play lights out with 19 points and 12 rebounds.
Kynlee Penney led Millard with a team best 13 points, nine of which came from beyond the perimeter. Isabel George scored nine and Emma Thurman finished with eight as Millard dipped to 1-1 on the young season.
The Lady Spartans have had little problem jumping out to an unbeaten start. In three games this season Emery has outscored their opponents 227-125. Offensively they have scored over 70 points in every game up to this point.
Emery will continue the season on Tuesday with a return to the Spartan Center against the Union Cougars.
