Helper Middle School have some pretty amazing after-school programs available for students to gain some great skills and to just have some fun while participating.

“Fridays, our art teacher, Caleb Ovard has an RPG group that he has formed. I think they do some Dungeons and Dragons and the role-playing game. But I do know that they love it, he has quite a group that goes out,” said Principal Mika Salas (MY-KAH SAL-US). “We have violin lessons with Andrew Lasslo after school. We have filmology with Jana Metzger and Alex Crumb. We have our newspaper that is published once a quarter, Ms. Marion Brown helps us with that.” These activities are great for students to have an outlet from the usual academics during a school day and provides a safe environment after school.

The school is busy with events to help those in need during the holiday season. “Some of our students have a tough time and their families are financially in a hardship. I don’t know if everyone understands just how much community support the schools receive,” stated Salas. There have been many businesses, groups and private individuals that have assisted the school during the holidays.

Students, faculty and staff are looking forward to the upcoming Christmas break that begins on December 21.
