The true meaning of Christmas will be evident at the Fourth Annual Carbon County Community Cares Christmas Dinner. This free event will be held on Christmas Day from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm inside the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center on the campus of USU-Eastern.

Carbon County Community Cares is a non-profit organization that strives to bring the community together to give compassionate service to local residents in need. “It started out being for low income, Veterans and kids that can’t go home for the holidays, people that are by themselves, you know things like that. It’s basically for anybody that wants to come over and have a Christmas dinner,” said Special Event Planner, Brenda Deeter. Last year, CCCC served almost 300 individuals a delicious Christmas dinner with all the fixings. Guests can look forward to some great fellowship, festive musical entertainment, receive a small gift and all the children will be able to make a small Christmas craft.

Shuttle services to and from the venue will be made available, with planned stops in East Carbon, Helper, Wellington and Price. Organizers will make meal deliveries to anyone that may be homebound, alone and/or unable to leave their homes. “We need volunteers on the 24th and then on the 25th. We’re going to do deliveries, we’ll need volunteers for that from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Of course, we will have the cleanup that we will start doing at 4:00 pm,” stated Deeter.  Any individuals, families, civic organizations or businesses that would like to donate a few hours to help with the community dinner may give her a call at 820-8140 to sign-up. Duties may include set-up for the dinner, serving of the meal, provide shuttle/delivery services and assist with clean-up.

For those that would like to make arrangements for shuttle services, food delivery or to share information on someone that could benefit from this community dinner may contact Stephanie at 820-6631. Christmas is a time for togetherness and celebration, so no one should be alone on this holiday.
