One of the local area’s favorite events that take place every August is the Carbon County Search and Rescue Demolition Derby. This thrilling event will take place on Saturday, August 11 and is sure to bring action-packed driving and destruction to the audience.

“As of right now, I have 27 cars that are signed up and ready to go, so it should be a pretty awesome show,” said Sheriff Jeff Wood. “There are five classes of cars; we have the full-size trucks, we have the mini cars, mini truck, minivan, mini blazer, the 80s or newer class.” If drivers have a vehicle that has been run in other derby competitions and doesn’t fit the rules of CCSR Demolition Derby can enter into a new category called the Misfit class.

“This year we are doing something different we have t-shirts that we are selling also and all the proceeds go to Search and Rescue. They’re white, they have a cool logo on the back, a little logo on the front,” explained Wood. Organizers felt this was a great way to help promote the annual derby competition. The event t-shirts can be purchased at the Search and Rescue booth during International Days.

Demolition Derby tickets are currently on sale at Tire King at 535 East Main Street which is the hub for all of the derby information including registration. Tickets are also available to purchase at Grako’s Tire Pros at 280 East Main Street in Price.

The Carbon County Sheriff Search and Rescue team put on this annual event to earn funds that are contributed towards the program’s expenses, training, equipment in order to operate a successful organization.
