The Carbon Dinos suffered a 66-55 loss to the Tooele Buffaloes in the basketball season opener Tuesday evening at Carbon High School.

Falling behind early by double-digits, the Dinos played nearly even with Tooele throughout the final three quarters of action. The loss marks the second straight against Tooele in season openers following last year’s 58-40 setback.

Senior Collin Lewis led the way for Carbon with 18 points and seven rebounds. Fellow senior Derek Hillam scored 14 points and grabbed nine boards before fouling out. Ty Anderson also reached double-figures scoring 10 points.

Tooele’s Joshua Wilkins scored a team-best 16 points to lead the Buffaloes in the season opening win. Justin Rogers added 13 points and Nathan Swan logged 10.

Carbon will get a full eight days off before returning to the court with a traditional trip to Colorado on Nov. 29. The Dinos will play three games in three days against schools from out of state.

The next home tilt will take place on Saturday, Dec. 7 as the Dinos welcome in the Emery Spartans for the first of two meetings this season. The region portion of the schedule is set to begin on Dec. 12 against Juab.
